Ski schools

Over 800 instructors teach their sport in Courchevel, most of them from the Ecole de Ski Français (ESF). They are highly qualified to teach all types of skiing and snowboarding, speaking over 25 languages. They will help you discover virgin ski areas and summits, along with cosy alpine restaurants and farms. Starting at age 3 your children can discover skiing in reserved, safe areas specially designed for them.

Ski lessons are the perfect way to brush up on your technique. Your instructor will adapt his teaching to your physical form, or to your degree of confidence or motivation. Several possibilities exist for private lessons, from absolute beginners (from 1 hour onwards for children) to perfecting your technique or a full day’s tuition. As true professionals, the instructors will enable you to take full advantage of tailor-made tuition in your own language in regaining your confidence, improving your technique, experiencing new disciplines, and discovering with them the best off-piste trails and the largest skiable area in the world.

Courses are also available for disciplines other than skiing or snowboarding. You can discover the joys of cross-country skiing as well as the peace and quiet of escaping off the beaten track with snowshoes, or telemarking, the ancestor of modern skiing.

 Mountain guides

Coached in an enthusiastic group by mountain guides specially trained in off-piste skiing, you will be able to cover some of the most beautiful slopes and trails of the 3 Valleys – all off-piste. In groups of limited numbers, you can come and enjoy fantastic skiing with the exhilaration of powder or the pleasures of spring snow on secret trails far from the crowds.

Ski patrol

They are considered to be the angels of the station. Few people see them during the day, but every morning, members of the ski patrol check if the slopes are secured, looking if there is enough snow to ski or making sure that no avalanche might happen on the domain once the ski runs are open. During the day, they come to rescue and bring back to the station injured people. At dawn, they close the slopes, making sure that no one is lost or injured on the slopes.

Every night, they travel throughout the entire domain, preparing the slopes for the next day with the grooming machines. Thanks to the high number of these modern machines and the work of its ski patrol, Courchevel is considered to have the best ski runs preparation in the world.
